Today, members of the Problem Solvers Caucus amended HR 1 by utilizing a new rule included in the "Break the Gridlock" rules package negotiated with House leadership and implemented this Congress. The House Committee on Rules gave preference to this amendment because at least 20 Democrats and 20 Republicans cosponsored it, per Problem Solvers Caucus implemented rules change.

Yesterday, a bipartisan group of Members in the Problem Solvers Caucus voted to support the Rules package to organize the House of Representatives, which included commonsense rules changes proposed by the Problem Solvers Caucus. These rules changes will help "Break the Gridlock" in Congress and enable progress on much-needed legislation to move the country forward. Republican Members Tom Reed (NY-23), John Katko (NY-24), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-8) voted for the Rules package.

Today, the Problem Solvers Caucus applauded the passage of the FIRST Step Act, which now heads to the President Trump's desk to be signed into law. The bipartisan criminal justice reform legislation, which passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support, will strengthen our communities, improve the lives of thousands and save taxpayers money.

Today, Congressmen Tom Reed (NY-23) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, released the following statement:

This bill betters our communities, improves the lives of thousands and saves taxpayers money. Congress must continue to craft and pass more bipartisan legislation like the FIRST Step Act."

Since June, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus has been working on a series of rules reforms that will help Break the Gridlock and allow Members of Congress to govern. We are pleased to report that, after months of constructive discussions, and a meeting with Ranking Members this morning, we have reached an agreement with Leader Pelosi and Ranking Member McGovern that will help Break the Gridlock.

Today, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced a bipartisan agreement on a set of principles to resolve DACA while continuing to make America's borders strong and secure. With this agreement, the twenty-four Democrats and twenty-four Republicans of the bipartisan Caucus agreed to support a plan that addresses the ongoing budget impasse related to DACA and border security measures.
