WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressmen Tom Reed (NY-23) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, released the following statement announcing a new bipartisan working group tasked with developing legislative recommendations aimed at clarifying Congress's war power Constitutional responsibilities.

"Congress must fulfill its obligations under the Constitution regarding war, including authorizations for use of military force (AUMF).

WASHINGTON – Today, December 20, 2019, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced the endorsement of H.R. 2382, the USPS Fairness Act; H.R. 1869, the Restoring Investment in Improvements Act; H.R. 1175, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act; and H.R. 943, the Never Again Education Act.

Today, December 19, 2019, Members of the Problem Solvers Caucus applaud the efforts of the White House and Congressional Leadership on the House passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This important international trade deal would modernize the 24-year-old NAFTA and promote mutually beneficial trade leading to freer markets, fairer trade, and robust economic growth in North America.

​WASHINGTON - Today, December 17, 2019, the Problem Solvers Caucus praised the House repeal of the excessive health care "Cadillac Tax" in the House-passed appropriations package. Without this repeal, health care costs would have increased for one in five Americans beginning next year.

WASHINGTON – Today, December 11, 2019, the Problem Solvers Caucus formally endorsed H.R. 2117 — the bipartisan Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research Act (FASTER Act). When enacted, the legislation will help improve the health and safety of Americans with food allergies and related disorders, by updating allergen labeling laws, increasing research, expanding patient experience data to include food allergies, and studying the economic costs of food allergies.

WASHINGTON – Today, December 6, 2019, the Problem Solvers Caucus formally endorsed the bipartisan College Transparency Act, which will establish a postsecondary student data system, requiring the Department of Education to provide actionable and customizable information so students and families can make responsible choices about higher education with new access to data on enrollment, completion, and post-graduation success across colleges and majors.

"Governing by continuing resolutions and government shutdowns are no way to run our country and hurts the people we were sent to Washington to represent. WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced its endorsement of H.R. 4916, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2019, to provide earned visa status for Certified Agricultural Workers (CAWs) and provide ranchers and farmers a legal, reliable workforce. This bill specifically expands the H-2A foreign guest-worker program, so farmers can easily hire workers.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Problem Solvers Caucus endorsed H.R. 3497, the Jumpstart Our Businesses by Supporting Students (JOBS) Act, to expand Pell Grant eligibility for qualifying short-term training programs, helping more Americans gain access to industry-recognized credentials. This bill is the companion to legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Tim Kaine (D-VA).

WASHINGTON - Today, October 22, 2019, the Problem Solvers Caucus praised the passage of H.R. 724, the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act of 2019, which utilized the new House "Consensus Calendar" to help get a debate and vote on the House floor. This legislation creates a federal animal cruelty statute prohibiting the most heinous acts of abuse which can occur beyond the reach of state cruelty laws.

WASHINGTON – The Problem Solvers Caucus has endorsed H.R. 1980, the Smithsonian Women's History Museum Act, which will establish a brand new women's history museum on the Mall in Washington, as a part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The Museum will showcase the invaluable contributions women have made to the United States throughout its history in every professional field and sector of society.

The bill received priority consideration on the House floor by having more than 290 bipartisan cosponsors – an instrumental new house rule the Problem Solvers Caucus led the fight for earlier this Congress.

WASHINGTON – Today, Members of the Problem Solvers Caucus praised the passage of the Caucus-endorsed H. Res. 246, a bipartisan resolution opposing the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement targeting Israel.

The Caucus' endorsement, spearheaded by Congressmen Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Steve Watkins (KS-02), united Democratic and Republican Caucus members behind the effort to denounce the boycott of Israel, and support a two-state solution, providing this bipartisan resolution with more momentum for today's vote on the House Floor.

WASHINGTON – Last Friday, members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus visited McAllen, TX to see facilities and conditions at the southern border. The trip was led by Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) and Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA). Members visited the Donna Holding Facility for family units and unaccompanied children, the Port of Entry in Hidalgo, a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) living and learning center for unaccompanied minors run by the non-profit BCFS, and the McAllen Central Processing Center.

WASHINGTON – Members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus will be visiting the southern border of the United States in the Rio Grande Valley on Friday, July 19, 2019.Among the facilities the Caucus members will be inspecting are points of entry, a border patrol station, and a centralized processing center. Caucus members will also be inspecting the physical U.S.-Mexican border and will participate in briefings and discussions with experts on the ground. Reps. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) and Dean Phillips (D-MN) are co-leading the Problem Solvers Caucus' visit.

The bill received priority consideration on the House floor by having more than 290 bipartisan cosponsors – a key new house rule the Problem Solvers Caucus fought for early this Congress. The bill, H.R.748 -- Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019, had 369 bipartisan co-sponsors.
