In honor of National Police Week, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus highlighted their endorsement of H.R. 3184, the Invest to Protect Act of 2023, legislation that seeks to strengthen police departments nationwide through targeted investments in officer safety, recruitment, and mental health. The Invest to Protect Act would establish targeted investments in small and midsize police departments to conduct critical training activities, provide mental health resources, obtain necessary equipment, and bolster officer recruitment and retention efforts.

The legislation will expedite repayments to fire departments that respond to wildfires on federal lands and increase transparency in cost-share agreements between the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and fire departments nationwide.
