Problem Solvers Caucus Members Send Bipartisan Letter to Senate Leadership Urging Swift Consideration and Passage of the Ratepayer Protection Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chairs Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Tom Suozzi (NY-03) sent a bipartisan letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urging the Senate to swiftly advance the Caucus endorsed Ratepayer Protection Act (H.R. 9340), led by Problem Solvers Caucus Member Gabe Evans, to protect families and small businesses from unnecessary increases in electricity costs.

The Ratepayer Protection Act would direct state utility regulators to consider standards ensuring that large-load customers, including data centers and other large-scale electricity users, cover the full costs of new generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure needed to serve them, along with financial assurances to ensure those costs are paid.

The legislation passed the House by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 417–3.
