Problem Solvers Caucus Endorsed Bipartisan “MOBILE Health Care Act” Signed into Law

Helps Expand Access to Primary Health Care Services to Reach More Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Yesterday, the Problem Solvers Caucus-endorsed bill, S.958 was signed into law by the President. The bipartisan, Maximizing Outcomes through Better Investments in Lifesaving Equipment for (MOBILE) Health Care Act expands access to primary health care services in underserved and rural communities. The legislation gives community health centers flexibility to use federal funds awarded through the New Access Points (NAP) grant program to establish new delivery sites that are mobile units.

Across the country, 1 in 11 Americans – including 400,000 veterans and 8.7 million children – rely on community health centers for their health care. Community health centers have been successful in expanding access to affordable and quality health care nationwide. By enabling greater flexibility in the NAP grant program to use grant funds for mobile units, this legislation will remove barriers to help reach more people in small, rural, and hard-to-reach urban communities and promote healthier communities.

Representative Susie Lee (NV-3) and Representative Jamie Herrera Beutler (WA-3) brought the MOBILE Health Care Act for endorsement, which garnered the support of more than 75 percent of the Caucus.

The legislation has wide support from healthcare organizations, including the National Association of Community Health Centers, the National Rural Health Association, the National Health Care for the Homeless Council, and the American Dental Association.

Bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus Members who sponsored the legislation include Reps.
