Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chairs Fitzpatrick and Gottheimer Statement on Retirement of Vice-Chair Fred Upton

April 7, 2022

Washington, D.C.— Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chairs Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) released the following statement regarding the announcement that U.S. House of Representative and Problem Solvers Caucus Vice-Chair Fred Upton will retire at the close of the 117th Congress:

“For 36 years, Fred Upton has been a champion of bipartisanship, dedicated public servant, and a role model for working with both sides of the aisle to get things done to improve the lives of Americans. As the Vice-Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, Fred is a trusted confidant to so many members, a constant voice of reason, and has been instrumental to the Caucus’s work taking on complex issues and advancing practical solutions. His commitment to putting country first and principles over politics to ensure our country remains a robust democracy will leave a lasting impact on our nation and Congress.

“With his departure at the end of this term, the country will lose a smart, kind, bipartisan leader who has an impressive track record of delivering results for America through civility, discourse and working to find common ground on tough issues. He will be missed. We thank Fred for his leadership, wish him and his family well, and applaud the work that he has accomplished for Michigan and our nation.”
